The Centenary of the first Australian made aeroplane to fly in 1910, the Duigan aeroplane , will be celebrated in July, 2010, at Mia Mia, the district where the plane was built and the early flights took place. To celebrate this historic event, a flying replica is being constructed to reenact these flights and to be on show in Mia Mia.
A local community Group, ‘The Australian Centenary of Powered Flight – 2010 Mia Mia,’ Inc Committee was formed to plan and co-ordinate celebrations and community events over the weekend of 16th – 18th July, 2010, at Mia Mia and nearby locations with the assistance of the City of Greater Bendigo and the Kyneton Aero Club.
